This Boost/EGT gauge was designed to plug into the PN 3601 Superchips Firefly device or other inline controllers. It will not work without having an external controller and does not come with any sensors.
Superchips Lazer EGT, Power Level and Boost Gauge, 2 1/16" PN 49001
The Superchips Lazer EGT / Power Level / Boost Gauge can display exhaust gas temperature from 400 to 1600 F with a 140 clockwise sweep. Power level is displayed in four graduated steps with a 25 clockwise sweep. Boost pressure is displayed from 0 to 50 PSIG with a 110 clockwise sweep. It features programmable peak exhaust gas temperature and boost point alarms that will flash the portion of the arc above the programmed high values. The alarm points are easily adjusted by the user using the touch face programming capability. The gauge will also display peak EGT and boost pressure reached with a dot of light.
The 49001 is a serial input display gauge that displays information received from the inline controller over the serial interface between the gauge and controller. No sensors are connected to the 49001, but the controller must remain connected to communicate the EGT, Power level and Boost pressure data to the gauge. The gauge can also send edit data when the touch face switch is activated to set the high EGT alarm value, the Power Level value and the high Boost alarm value to the controller.
Breakthrough Technology! Never before has there been such a breakthrough in gauge technology as the Superchips Lazer gauge made by MSD. Look closely at the face of the gauge and the first thing you'll notice is that there's no needle. Look closer and you can see that there's no visible lights or LED's in the background. This alone give the Lazer gauge a fresh and welcomed appearance in the form of gauges, but there is much more to the Lazers than meets the eye.
Gauges from MSD? You may be asking "Why would an ignition company come out with gauges?". Well, MSD has always offered the best in new and exciting technology to racers and performance enthusiasts and when we designed a technology that is more accurate and faster reacting than any other gauges available, we had to bring it to the market!
About the Lazer Gauge - Inside the gauge housing there is a small motor that spins a pointer at a fixed speed. At the tip of this pointer there is a tiny LED. A built-in digital microprocessor controls turning this LED on and off which, to the naked eye, creates an accurate trace that becomes the gauge's indicator. Due to the lightning fast response time of the microprocessor and the LED, the Lazer Gauge is extremely accurate. In fact, at 10,000 rpm, it is accurate to within 2 rpm.
This "flying LED" technology gives MSD the opportunity to put two gauges in one package - and with opposite sweeps! There is a new 5" Tach that also displays boost pressure but in a counterclockwise sweep! No other gauge can offer that technology. Also, for gauges that require programming, such as with a shift light or fuel gauge, the gauge can be set through toch-screen programming! Simply hold your finger over a certain point on each gauge and you can program the shift light or warning point! There are many more features available in different gauges.
