The Problem
A couple of us have been involved in e-commerce since the Crazy Times (technical description for 1999 when everyone we knew including us were receiving multi-million offers millions). We knew that there really wasn’t anything original generated out of a lot of e-commerce concepts. In fact most of it was boring. We often used deal sites online but most sites really sucked What we couldn’t find was a site that gave you the feeling you were dealing with some down to earth folks you could trust. In addition, we wanted deals so good that we must have bought a hot Best Buy truck from Tony Soprano.
The Solution
So in 2002 we came up with Dealmonger. Our idea was simple, yet sinister…muuuahahaha. With Dealmonger members would not only save money, but make money and get additional discounts based upon your social participation. By social participation we mean referring deals and commenting on products they like or don’t like. We’d make our users our affiliates and advisers for other members. If there is one thing that really bugs us, it’s paying all those search engines and pricing comparison engines all that advertising money. After all, it’s all about you. The less we spend on advertising the less we charge. It self reinforcing!

A short history on Mongering
Basically mongering has been around for millennia. Generally words like fishmonger, costermonger, iron monger have been used frequently. Other words have been used like rumor monger which is a metaphoric compound. Dealmonger is such a word. Metaphorically, we are ultimate dealmakers. There are dealmakers who can make you a ‘deal’ and then there are dealmongers who blow your mind and win your heart.
We figured the best way to make you feel comfortable is to define what a deal is and what a monger is. That way there is no ambiguity here. You WILL save money and we WILL fight the good fight when it comes to getting blow out prices for goods.
